When we were invited to join MP Rechie Valdez’s Community BBQ, we were so excited—but honestly, kabado rin!
It was our first time introducing Sulit Spot & More to a big crowd in person. We prepared our pre-loved, upcycled and new finds, prizes, stickers and Spin the Wheel—while constantly asking, “May kulang pa ba?”
When the big day arrived, all the hard work felt worth it. We met wonderful families, shared our story and welcomed new members to the Sulit Circle. Our very first member of the day won a $50 Sulit credit—super swerte!
One of our favourite moments was watching the children light up over the free stickers and cutie toys. Seeing their big smiles reminded us that it doesn’t always take a lot to make someone happy. Sometimes, it’s the simplest things—the little things we often take for granted—that bring the most joy. Ang sarap makita ang mga ngiti nila!
The day wasn’t all about making sales. More importantly, it was about getting Sulit Spot in front of the community and talking about what we’re building—helping families save, giving useful items another chance and showing that pre-loved can still be clean, valuable and worth choosing.
It was also an opportunity to let people know that we accept donations. We want to make donating easier and help ensure that useful items find a new home. If something is no longer suitable for resale, we’ll look for ways to upcycle it and give it a new purpose instead of letting it go to waste.
We’re especially grateful to the family and friends who spent the whole day helping us set up, welcome guests and pack everything away. Thank you to our friends who lent us the canopy and tables, to my brother who kept working on the website to make sure everything ran smoothly, and to Customs Headquarters for accommodating our last-minute banner.

We started the day kabado pero excited and ended it tired—but with very full and grateful hearts.
